The Zygmunt "Ziggy" Przybyl Memorial Award is given for sustained and outstanding contributions to the knowledge and practice of emergency response.
This annual award was established to honor Ziggy Przybyl, one of the early leaders in environmental services, who passed away in August 2014. Recipients will typically have contributed in substantive and innovative fashion to the methods and practice of environmental services over many years.
To honor Ziggy, The Zygmunt "Ziggy" Przybyl Memorial Award will be given each year at the annual No-Spills Conference. The recipient will be an environmental professional who is a specialist in the control of the environment for better health; an advocate and applier of practices to control hazardous elements in the environment; an organizer of economic and social forces to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for the betterment of all human beings.
The winner will be selected based on review of:
1. A statement describing the challenges faced by the applicant in the field and how he/she met them.
2. An overview of contributions to any/all of the environmental health, protection, management or regulations.
3. Represents an exemplary level of professionalism.
